Why Dreamhost Rocks The Internets!
I never took the time to share my gratitude to Dreamhost, a popular online Web host, and I decided to take this opportunity to share my experience and review of Dreamhost.
I was referred to Dreamhost by a fellow Webmaster in 2004 that said something along the lines of, “these people rock and you should check them out.” I did. I found working with them and having a support staff that knows their stuff inside and out really pays off. I’ve hit a few speed bumps in the past, but they have been very responsive and reliable to their customers.
They are local, right here, in the United States. I support any major company who continues to do business in the United States, and Dreamhost is one of those. They are upfront about their base of operations in Los Angeles, California. Their company also serves as a qualitative case study regarding corporate and employee transparency. Check out their employee blogs, not only do they list employee biographies, but they share their personal blogs. As far as corporate image is concerned, they professionally communicate to their customers about their upcoming changes (and mistakes respectively) via their blog.
As a Linux evangelist, I love their rock-solid reliability on their shared hosting plans served by Debian Linux. They have had a few hiccups in the past with CPU sharing and how some customers hog it, but they since then resolved that so everyone has equal share of CPU cycles.
Power to the people! Dreamhost understands they must adapt to the needs of geeky Web folks like myself and cater to the discriminatory business folk who look at the bottom-line of web hosting. They’ve listened to their customer needs and are continually adding numerous features to their Web site and hosting packages.
I’ll share my promo code for a FREE DOMAIN with whatever hosting package if you sign up under me. Enter FREEDOTCOM as your promo code to waive the domain name registration fees. If you sign up from my ID, I’ll add your link to my site and perhaps will feature you in an upcoming blog entry.
I love Dreamhost, and you should seriously consider giving them a try. They’ve got their stuff together. If you’ve used Dreamhost, share your experience in the comments below!
