Don’t Help Spammers, Even if You Love Them
Spam-king, Eddie Davidson, escaped from prison with the help from his girlfriend and eventually led to the murder-suicide of Davidson and his girlfriend. This just shows that convicted spammers are ruthless and will do anything they can for an easy out.
A teenage girl was shot in the neck and a baby was found unhurt in a car seat inside the vehicle where the three bodies were found, Arapahoe County undersheriff Mark Campbell said. The relationship between the girl, baby and the escaped convict wasn’t immediately clear.
The bodies of “Spam King” Edward “Eddie” Davidson, his wife, and 3-year-old daughter were found in an SUV parked in a farmhouse driveway in a rural part of Bennett, about 25 miles east of Denver. Authorities said Davidson was the apparent gunman.

Look, I know it’s horrible for me to say, but I find spammers to be the leeches on legitimate e-mail marketing and they cause marketers to have a bad reputation. However, I don’t believe spammers should have to make life and death decisions because of their actions.
From the way the FBI was immediately posted an APB, I can imagine the kind of fight-or-flight decisions that Davidson was contemplating. He just sent e-mail, he just committed white-collar fraud; and wasn’t a rapist or a murderer.
If someone wants to spam, they must accept the sentences they earn. Then again, I mean how hardcore is it to share it with cell mates, “Yeah, I sent a bunch of messages to people and spoofed headers and made a shitload of money.” I can’t fathom that he’d have a lot of issues in prison.
My condolences go out to Davidson and his girlfriend’s families during this difficult time. I don’t care how much spam someone was responsible for, they don’t deserve to die for it. It’s just e-mail.
Lessons learned today, kids:
Don’t spam. Send e-mail responsibly. Don’t help criminals escape from prison.

The most senseless part about the whole thing is that the federal Level One work camp he was in barely qualifies as a prison in the first place (which is why only nonviolent rich white people get sent there). It’s like a summer camp that you can’t leave- in fact most high schools have a more secure fenceline and stiffer security. He wouldn’t really have had that bad of a time in there anyway. It wouldn’t be like “Oz” or anything like that. He escaped like most people do at those places, he simply walked away and called someone to pick him up. Interestingly the same Colorado town is also home to the most secure and brutal federal supermax prison ever built (ADX Florence- home of the Unabomber, Timmy McVeigh, and Zacarias Moussoui).
I’ve spent nearly my entire adult life either as an inmate, interacting/working with correctional staff, or doing outreach/volunteer work with inmates; and sometimes I catch myself thinking if I had the chance to voluntarily do a “sentence” at a place like that I just might take them up on it for a few months to get away from it all. He must have already been mentally unbalanced, there’s no way even an IT geek would go to those lengths when facing a short sentence in an easy joint like that.
