Spamming doesn’t pay — especially if you’re Adam Vitale, 27 from New York, was sentenced after his guilty plea for spamming more than 1.3 million AOL users. His partner in crime, Todd Moeller, assisted him by obfuscating sources of the junk mail, making it nearly untraceable, known as ’spoofing.’ More »
Twitter acquired Summize, a search service that was built from the foundation of Twitter for $15 million. Considering that Summize simply aggregated content provided by Twitter and aggressively cached it so people could access it quickly — that seems about the right amount of value for the startup. AOL will be one of the many online companies looking to take advantage of Apple’s iPhone App Store for users by offering their own free AIM client, AOL/CBS Radio, and Video (Truveo) applications to users.
