[...] 8.Capital One Exploded my APR by 255%! # DygiScape I wish I could say i’m in the same boat as you as far as not having a balance. About a year ago I decided to get all my debt under control. I had this Capital One card with a 10.99 APR. I took all my other credit card debt…about $20,000 and transferred it all to this card and closed my others. [...]

I noticed my rate from 9.9% to 29.4%. So I called and was told that I had paid over 3 days late or some nonsense which had been investigated and reversed months before. Despite the reversal, they said they could correct my APR, but only to a new 17.9%, not my original, before their mistake, 9.9$% rate. They were also unwilling/"unable" to reverse the fees collected on the jacked up APR. When asked if it was their company who was included in the bailout, it was confirmed and also explained that they are paying off the bailout with interest. Interest? All our jacked up interest it seems. But it is our fault for being complicit. Let's slay the beast we've been feeding all this time and take control back. It's true--this kind of system ultimately benefits no one!
I won't promote other blogs and articles here, but I encourage people to get "mad as hell" and "not take it anymore." (Network)

I don't believe that as consumers, we have rights to sue. We waive those when we agree to the cardholder agreement. That said, take your business elsewhere and double check the conditions of the agreement before agreeing to it.

Personally, I just find it shortsighted of CapitalOne to do this to loyal, faithful cardmembers. Maybe this is why Amex has such higher satisfaction ratings.

~Joe

I SUGGEST READING YOU TERMS AGAIN AND THAT YOU TAKE A CLASS OR TOO IN LAW. THERE ARE NO CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT OR INDIVIDUAL CIVIL SUITS EITHER. YOU HAVE ARBITRATION MAYBE OR FILE BANKRUPTCY. OR JUST DO NOT PAY AND YOUR CREDIT IS OVER. TAKES YEARS TO ESTABLISH A GOOD FICO SCORE AND HIGH CREDIT SCORE. IT TAKES ANY ONE DAY TO DESTROY IT........
THANKS TO OUR GOV. LEADERS ON CAPITAL HILL, BIG BUSINESS IN BANKERS AND..........GREED.

They raised mine as well.

If you have miles saved up, you have until may 17 to use them if you dispute the new changes. I have already disuputed mine. If they think raising my APR on my $500 limit account I have never missed a payment and always kept a balance on is going to help them, they need to think again. I would have kept it open if I didn't have to pay $40 a year to keep it open.
