Backyard Alley Cleanup Sucks…
Alright, so we (my dad and I) demolished some old shed and put the waste in the alley against our wall, it took about three days to put it all there. You may be thinking, “why put it in the alley?”. Our shithole of a city has a bulk/brush/waste pickup 4 times a year, so we would just wait until they came, which they do a fine job of picking it up. This is to reduce fulling up the large green barrels with yard waste and other bulky items. Well, about two months has passed without anyone complaining, then I took out the garbage and saw someone posted a paper concerning the “mess” in the alley.
It went something like this:
Dear Friendly Neighbors,
Its that time of the year for spring cleaning and we often throw our junk outside of our walls. This alley is looking like the county landfill and we would like to keep our property values growing higher for our investments. There is also a risk of having rodents and other slithery things infest in the messes. Please do your part to keep this alley clean.
Ok, honestly, it wasn’t “good” looking, however bulk pickup is about a month away and who cares. Not like anyone else’s looks better. I suspect it was our “neighbor” across the way, because as soon as I ripped down the sign, and disposed of it correctly, a woman discreetly came out of her gate to see what’s going on, then discreetly entered her gate. Its hypocritcal, they complain about it, yet the throw large desks, satellite dishes (one that I picked up, thx), and other junk in the wash.
So today, my dad and I cleaned it all up, made three large “organized” piles. It took like 21/2 hours to completion.
It was sunny, hot, and it sucked.
