I finally got a chance to look over my website referrers, quite interesting. A while back, I was writing about Mike Jone’s “large phone bill”, apparently, I have been shoved to the top on MSN’s Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). Secondly, I mentioned an AOL Connectivity error message (72-MCLL). Here is the breakdown of my top search phrases.

Joseph K. Shields

April 29th, 2006

I went to Joseph Shield’s funeral yesterday. I never really like the idea of going to funerals, but it wasn’t about me, and I paid my last respects to the man. We worked together in FPS and was a good guy overall. It sucks that he took his own life; battling depression during his life - but you would never see that, he never let it surface. His service was very honorable for him, and it sucks to get emotional. I never let my emotions out; but yesterday I did. We remembered his humor he gave to us as he was a funny guy. He won’t be forgotten, but will be missed.

I switched from McAfee to Avast! Pro

April 24th, 2006

I have made my switch from a McAfee user to Avast Professional. Avast has protection of all files, so if a rootkit infected the registry or other critical files, it has a rollback utility; in addition it makes hashes of the files currently running and when or if changes occur it ‘phones home’ to Avast for analysis. (Doesn’t invade privacy, as just to monitor hash files of files).

Another plus, is less resources CPU and RAM being utilized. We can always use that. C’mon McAfee, get with the program, be proactive now. :( I used McAfee for many years and hate to say goodbye to it. On the other hand, Norton sucks still. ;-)

Apple May Be Going After OSX Hacker

April 10th, 2006

Apple Computer Inc. may have intensified its legal efforts against a hacker working on technology to enable the Mac OS X for Intel to run on computers other than Apple’s. (TechWeb)

It seems that Apple is aggressively pursuing control of what hardware their OS boots on, despite getting a hold of Boot Camp. They are strategically letting Windows Vista work on a Mac, but not the other way around. The kid’s ISP disconnected him, which I am almost positive can be easily done now with the DMCA, and assuming he leaks his findings on the web, they (AAPL) can sue for potential damages.

Now, I personally like Apple. They made a big comeback and revolution from their classic mac days. They came back so well, they are respected among the industry’s elite. Not to mention the product placement they have with their other produts (iPod) in so many celebrities. I don’t like it when their corporate side attacks they came to the industry. Apple grew, rather, all computer companies grew by hacking the norm, and making better, faster, and easier to use products for the mainstream. I am all for this kid haxing the macz to the max0r if it means better products for us all.

Finally all moved in!

April 8th, 2006

I finally moved in, everything seems to be stable. I unfortunantely contracted some type of skin infection on my leg. I was momentarily hospitalized as they run blood analysis. Good news, is I am alive and well; bad news is that they weren’t very verbose in telling me what I had, or what the results were. This is discerning, since I want to see the-physical-in-my-hand-results of what the heck the did for a couple days, accountability, if you will, is what I wanted. Now, I am taking a 10-day dose of antibiotics, and the skin infection (which was spreading into muscle tissue) is reducing down, and I estimate another week and I will be good as new.
The Powerbook G4 is working out well, I bought via Craigslist to replace my stolen HP laptop. I am *officially* a multi-OS person, and I am enjoying OSX 10.4.6. In my pursuit to learn Mac, I found that the only thing able to freeze it, is AOL. Hahaha, why doesn’t that surprise me? ;)
