I love Google Earth

July 21st, 2005

I figured I’d try this other Google technology, called GoogleEarth. Its basically lets you the end user browse the world with satellite data (archived of course) with Google Maps‘ features of landmarks and stuff. Its also uses 3D rendering and puts you in complete control, its like you are in an aircraft. You have to try it to really get a feel for it.

And this is where I live:

NY Driver beats speeding ticket via Google Maps

July 20th, 2005

Google Maps
Mirror of story. Slashdot Article

“Edwin uses Google Maps to prove to the judge his traffic ticket was wrongly issued, saving himself some cash and points on his license. During his testimony, Edwin whips out a notebook, loads up Google Maps and upstages the offending officer with some quick Google Map searches.”

Thats some good stuff to get out of a ticket.

Parallel Blog, “Happenings”

July 18th, 2005

Hey, I started a blog about AOL Technologies and stuff that people can use for free. I figured I’d share my thoughts on it, and it is now approved by my employer to discuss the already made products and stuff. (As in not breaking Non-Disclosure Agreements).

I called it Happenings with AOL. Its available here
http://journals.aol.com/josephmaaz/happenings.

Maybe something to check out once in a while. Especially since AOL is shifting its audience to the web (new AIM developments)

Note: My opinions expressed herein are my own and do not necessarily represent those of my employer.

Trip to Cancun, Mexico

July 17th, 2005

I recently arrived back from a vacation to Cancun, MX. It was great, a lot of things to check out. It was a family event type of thing we try to do every so often. The hotel chain was Palace Resorts, which we stayed at the Cancun Palace. It’s pictured below

Well, now Hurricane Emily is approaching the Yucatan Peninsula, which we left a couple hours earlier before all Cancun flights were halted. Unfortunately, my parents were one of those affected, where they didn’t get a chance to fly back. So my mom is staying at something like what’s pictured below.
According to the AOL Welcome Screen, this is were people are stationed at in Cancun

Well, more blogging in a bit.
