So, Warner Brothers is releasing a new game, MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) to compliment its Matrix collection of movies. Well, I beta tested it and I have a mixed opinion on it. First, I dont play MMO's that much, so I wasnt too sure what to expect out of it.
First, you download the client, the client is all "hacker" looking with a simulation of "hacking" into the matrix (jacking in), then you have to download huge files (game update) consisting of about 2GB, so its forever. Once you do that, you are then able to connect into the game. This game massively owned my video card; where it was doing a whopping 4FPS. Well, I gave it a chance to see if maybe if it cached the environment, it will run faster; which it did, a whole 15FPS choppy as it draws the map.
The game is pretty pointless too. You kill an operative and you get points and levels advancing to be good. The tutorials are helpful, but still not much satisfaction is gained when the lame delayed combat within the game; however, the unique thing that sets the game apart from other RPG's are that you are in First Person view, and have a feeling of FPS (First Person Shooter) when running around and interacting with people.
The graphics are nice, but not nearlyu as good as Half Life 2, or Doom III. The graphics engine really needs improvement to make the game better.
Here's the minimum requirements: 2GHz proc, 512MB RAM, 8GB free.... thats insane. No other game has that as "minimum" requirements. My system can play HL2, D3, CS, UT2004, Halo with perfection, high graphics settings; all on max and get about 70FPS performance.
In additon to that; there is a cost to use this game. So expensive, and the TOS explains that an "adult" is 13 years of age or older. So kids; go ahead and signup with your parents CC, as MxO will not term your account. The game costs $50.00 in store, plus $14.99 monthly to use the service. Wow, $180/yr. Ummm, No. This looks good on paper for business execs, but c'mon thats so expensive.
I will not purchase this game, nor, use it.|||111060627597546684|||The Matrix Online (MxO)
