5/7/2004 01:30:18 AM|||Joe|||Traffic in Tucson is absolutely horrible. This is caused by two things; the drivers lack of intelligence and the city's lack of innovation to solve the problem.

I hold most of the blame towards drivers because the city engineers can only do so much to compensate for the lameness of these drivers.

My pet peeves in traffic:
- Lack of attention
- Lack of proper judgement
- Lack of turn signals
- Drivers not knowing how to manuver SUV's and other large vehicles.
- Red-Light Runners
- Cell Phones (with exceptions, but a majority can't multitask with them)

People complain about gas prices, but look at the vehicles they drive. Almost every family has a Tahoe, Suburban, Explorer, Expedition, Excursion, or an H2. Brief summary of my opinion, Don't complain because you are fully informed of how much gasoline they will consume when you purchase it. Also, it irritates me on how people dont use their SUVs for what they are designed to do. Hauling a couple bags of potting soil once every two years isnt a good enough excuse. They are not safer. Physically, they are safer and stronger, but its the drivers in it who are the danger. Like everything else, PRACTICE trying to control your vehicle on a weekend on an empty lot or dirt area. This will make you learn the limits of your vehicle and you can learn how to perform evasive manuvers in traffic; without the loss of life involved. If you actually carry a load in your SUV at minimum 50% of its miles then it is worth it to use.

There is no use for them anymore. Get a nice luxury car if you want to use the saftey excuse. If you need the use of one, borrow one from a friend or have them help you. Many people with trucks/SUVs seem to not complain about having their truck help someone else. It fills that gap of emptiness inside, guilt, that they have no reason for owning such a rediculous vehicle. So any time they can get a "use" out of it, it fills that void and they feel happier.|||108391861881747257|||Traffic in Tucson
